Event Alert: 8th Annual Lincoln Fire Department Turkey Drive

Thursday, November 18, 2021

from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

The 8th annual turkey drive is happening at Fire Station #34 located at 126 Joiner Parkway, Lincoln. (Near Creekside Elementary and immediately adjacent to Joiner Parkway Self Storage). The fire station is easy to access, and it is set up as a ‘drive-through’, so you do not have to exit your vehicle. In fact, fire department personnel will reach into your truck bed or open the hatch back or trunk of your vehicle and unload turkey(s), so you never have to exit your vehicle.

Please note that Frozen Turkeys are absolutely preferred (thawed Turkeys are harder to immediately manage during collection event)! Last years event collected 1,250 turkeys and provided meals for thousands of folks who otherwise would have struggled during the holidays. See a video recap of last year’s 2020 Turkey Drive here.

Frozen Turkey Sales are everywhere, but we are highlighting a few local stores that are advertising deals nearby. As you can see below, its possible to buy a turkey for around $12. We could use as many turkey donations as possible – as turkeys that do not get distributed in food boxes for Thanksgiving are continuously distributed throughout the winter months. Those that need a food box can go to www.thesaltmine.org and click on the Turkey Box Button.

Save the date, participate and Spread the Word!

Hear from Eric Long, pastor at the Salt Mine, as he explains how to donate turkey(s) at this year’s turkey drive — and how to sign up to receive a Box of Food with Turkey and all the fixings.
